The Challenge
In her career as a lawyer, Sandra is an expert at handling difficult legal cases and trials. She is confident and authoritative in her work. But when speaking English, she felt a big gap in her confidence. Even though she knew the grammar rules, she often felt "blocked" while speaking. She would spend too much time thinking about the "perfect" word, which made her hesitate and feel like she was losing her natural professional presence.
The Transformation
We stopped focusing on grammar textbooks and started focusing on how to speak naturally. We taught Sandra "time-buying" techniques - special ways to start sentences that give the brain an extra second to think without stopping the conversation. We also used phrasal verbs and timed speaking exercises to help her stop "translating" in her head. The goal was to move her away from trying to be perfect and toward being fluent.
The Result
By the end of the course, the "block" was gone. Sandra stopped hesitating and started speaking with a natural flow.
She can now discuss complex topics and share her opinions with ease and confidence. She no longer feels like English is a barrier; instead, she can now express her professional personality and authority in English just as she does in her legal practice.
